IT Help Desk Support Specialist

What You’ll Do TechPro, Inc. is looking for a Help Desk Technician to support hardware and software for clients as well as internal operations. This includes installation, training, proactive maintenance, repair, problem solving, and end user assistance, for all IT related systems, applications, and databases. Attitude and the willingness to learn is vital.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and resolving network hardware and software issues as well as local workstation issues according to quality standards and company policy and procedures. Will be expected to be able to initiate and complete jobs with minimal technical direction
  • Support a large number of networks, will have exposure to many different companies and their use of IT services
  • Will frequently work on-site of TechPro customers to resolve issues. May need to use own automobile on occasion
  • Assist with work overflow and be available to work overtime and during non-business hours as needed. Hours are usually consistent on a daily basis but may occasionally require some evening and weekend availability
What You’ll Need to Be Successful
  • Solid working knowledge of Active Directory
  • Network troubleshooting ability
  • Strong customer focus with the ability to identify and prioritize urgent requests
  • Demonstrated proficiency with set-up, maintaining and troubleshooting computers, printers, software, telecom and mobile related peripherals
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure when necessary
Education and Personal Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must have good grasp of grammar and language as descriptions are sent immediately to the customers as confirmation of work completed
  • Neat, professional appearance
  • Able to climb stairs and ladders and carry tools and equipment not to exceed 75 lbs
  • Must be very reliable and punctual
  • Must pass a drug screen and background check. Must be able to obtain a FOID card
  • Prefer a candidate who lives in or near the Fox Valley area
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record. May need to use own automobile on occasion
  • Must submit complete and accurate paperwork in a timely manner. This includes accurate reporting of mileage and detailed description of work completed on a daily basis via an electronic time tracking system
  • Properly maintain company equipment and tools as well as maintain a clean and organized work environment both at the office and in the field
  • Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Possess a positive, proactive attitude
  • Have strong organization and prioritization skills, including pro-active tracking of open issues
  • Eager to pick up on new technology as it develops
